What should you know about aluminum wiring?

From the mid 60’s to late 70’s, many homes were wired with aluminum wiring. The first thing that should be dispelled is the myth that aluminum wiring must be changed to copper. Yes, some insurance companies may take issue with the presence of aluminum wiring but will typically allow it if proper installation methods have been used where switches and receptacles have been pig-tailed, if the device is not rated for aluminum contact.
